Concubhair Mac Bruideadha facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Concubhair Mac Bruideadha was an Irish poet and a smart writer who was active around the year 1636.

He was the son of Maoilin Óg Mac Bruideadha, who passed away in 1602. Both Concubhair and his father are often mentioned in old documents called the Inchiquin manuscripts. They were also very close to the important Earls of Thomond family, who were powerful leaders in Ireland.

Concubhair was known as a respected writer and scholar. In 1636, his approval and signature were needed by a monk named Brother Mícheál Ó Cléirigh. This was for a very important historical book called the Annals of the Four Masters. This book recorded many events from Irish history. Concubhair's signature in the book showed his support. It read: Mac Bruaideadha .i. Concobhar, mac Maoilin óicc, á Chill Caoidhe 7 ó Leitir Mhaoláin. This means "Mac Bruaideadha, that is Concobhar, son of Maoilin Óg, from Cill Caoidhe and Leitir Mhaoláin."
