Constanța Crăciun (born February 16, 1914 – died May 2, 2002) was an important Romanian politician and teacher. She played a big role in the Romanian government and culture during her time.

Life Story

Constanța Crăciun was born in the city of Constanța, Romania. She studied subjects like literature and philosophy at university. In 1935, she joined the Romanian Communist Party. This was a political group that aimed to create a socialist society.

During a difficult time in 1942, she was put in prison. She spent time in Văcărești and Mislea prisons. She was set free in 1944.

After this, she became very active in politics. From 1948 to 1953, she was a member of the Great National Assembly. This was like the main parliament or law-making body of Romania at that time.

Constanța Crăciun held several important jobs in the government. She was the Minister of Culture from 1953 to 1957. This meant she was in charge of all things related to art, education, and heritage in the country. Later, in 1959, she became the deputy minister of culture.

From 1962 to 1965, she led the State Committee for Culture and Art. Then, from 1965 to 1969, she served as the vice-president of the State Council. This was a very high position in the government.

She was also a key member of the Communist Party's central committee for many years. This committee made important decisions for the party and the country.

In 1971, she received a special award called the Hero of Socialist Labour. This award honored people who had done great things for the country's development. She also got a gold medal called "Secera şi ciocanul" (Hammer and Sickle) in the same year.

Constanța Crăciun was married to Ion Vincze. He was also a well-known member of the Communist Party.
