The Contemporary Art Museum of Raleigh (CAM Raleigh) is a special place in Raleigh, North Carolina. It's a contemporary art gallery that shows modern art. You can find it in the city's Warehouse District. Unlike some museums, CAM Raleigh doesn't own its own art collection. Instead, it features exciting exhibitions by artists from North Carolina, across the country, and even from around the world.

What is CAM Raleigh?

CAM Raleigh is a team effort. It works with the College of Design at North Carolina State University. It's also a private organization that started in 1983. Back then, it was called the City Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Museum's Home

Since 2011, CAM Raleigh has been in a cool old building. It's a warehouse built in 1910 in downtown Raleigh. This building has a huge space, about 20,000 square feet, which is like a very big gym! The building was updated by a design team called Brooks + Scarpa.

What Kind of Art Does CAM Raleigh Show?

CAM Raleigh is known for showing many different kinds of art. They feature works by artists who are well-known. Some of the artists whose work has been shown there include Angel Otero, Marilyn Minter, Heather Gordon, Leonardo Drew, Sarah Cain, Dorian Lynde, and Jonathan Horowitz. A Temporary Pause

On June 3, 2025, the museum shared some news on its website. It announced that starting June 15, 2025, the museum would temporarily stop its exhibitions and programs. This pause is happening so the museum can think about its future plans.
