Corinna Rossi is an Italian expert who studies ancient Egypt. She is known for her work on how ancient Egyptians used math and built amazing structures like pyramids. She also explores ancient sites in the Kharga Oasis, a desert area in Egypt.

Her Journey to Ancient Egypt

Corinna Rossi was born in 1968 in Naples, Italy. She first studied architecture at the University of Naples Federico II, finishing in 1994. After that, she moved to the University of Cambridge in England to study Egyptology. She earned her master's degree in 1998 and her Ph.D. (a very high-level degree) in 2000. Her teacher was a famous Egyptologist named Barry J. Kemp.

After her studies, she continued her research at Churchill College, Cambridge. In 2004, she moved back to Italy. She became the Head of International Exchanges at the Collegio di Milano. In 2015, she joined the Polytechnic University of Milan. There, she is now a professor who teaches about Egyptology in the Department of Architecture.

Exploring Ancient Egypt

Corinna Rossi has been part of many exciting projects in Egypt. From 2000 to 2003, she worked with the British Mission at a place called Tell al-Amarna. Since 2019, she has been part of a Dutch-Italian team at Saqqara. This team includes experts from the Museo Egizio in Turin and the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden.

Since 2020, she also works with a joint mission at Deir al-Medina. This project is with the IFAO and the Museo Egizio.

Discovering the Kharga Oasis

From 2001 to 2006, Corinna Rossi helped lead a project called the North Kharga Oasis Survey. She worked with another expert named Salima Ikram. Since 2014, she has been the director of the Italian archaeological mission to Umm al-Dabadib. This is another important site in the Kharga Oasis.
