The Corner Lunch is a really cool, old-fashioned diner located in Worcester, Massachusetts. It's not just any diner; it's a historic building that was built way back in 1955! Imagine, it was even moved from Babylon, New York all the way to Worcester in 1968.
This diner is special because it's the biggest one in Worcester. It's also a rare example of a diner that was remodeled by the Musi Dining Car Company. Because of its history and unique features, the Corner Lunch was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. This means it's recognized as an important part of American history!

What Makes the Corner Lunch Special?
The Corner Lunch is located in the southern part of Worcester, right on the corner of Lamartine and Lafayette Streets. It's a single-story building made of steel, with cool green stripes on the outside. It's quite large, with nine sections wide and five sections deep. One corner is even rounded, which gives it a unique look!
Inside the Diner
When you step inside, you'll find a long counter where people can sit and eat. There are fifteen seats at the counter, all on steel poles, which gives it that classic diner feel. Along the front wall, you'll see comfy booths, and there's also banquette seating (like a long bench) along the south side. It's designed to fit lots of hungry customers!
A Diner on the Move
This diner has an interesting story! It was first built around 1955 by a company called DeRaffele Diners in New Rochelle, New York. Its very first home was in Babylon, New York.
But in 1968, the whole diner was picked up and moved to Worcester! When it arrived, the space it was going into wasn't quite big enough. So, another company, the Musi Dining Car Company, helped change parts of the diner to make it fit perfectly. This kind of remodeling work by Musi is quite rare to see in New England.
Who Ran the Corner Lunch?
Before the diner arrived, the spot was home to a place called The Corner Spa, which was a lunchroom and store. Later, it became known as the Corner Lunch. Two brothers, Fotios (who people called Fred) and Demetrios (who went by Jimmy) Efstathiou, ran the business. When the new diner building was moved to the spot, the Efstathiou brothers kept running it under the same name, the Corner Lunch. It's been serving up meals ever since!
