Corry, Missouri facts for kids
Corry is a small, undeveloped place in Dade County, Missouri, a state in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History of Corry
The area known as Corry was first planned out in 1875. It was originally going to be named "Cora." This name came from Cora Alexander, who was the daughter of one of the first families to settle in that area.
However, there was a mistake when the name was officially recorded. The spelling was accidentally changed to "Corry," and it was never corrected.
A post office, which is a place where you can send and receive mail, was opened in Corry in 1876. This post office served the community for many years, helping people connect through letters and packages. It stayed open until 1907.
