School History
Crockett High School is located at the corner of Menchaca Road and Stassney Lane. When the school first opened, the cafeteria wasn't finished yet. Because of this, the first principal, Forrest Kline, along with teachers and students, ate lunch in the courtyard. They enjoyed their meals among large rocks and oak trees. A famous actor named Fess Parker, who played Davy Crockett for Walt Disney in the 1950s, even attended the school's very first pep rally!
In 1971, a federal judge made an important decision about another school, Anderson High School. As a result, African-American students from that school began attending Crockett High School starting in the fall of that year.
