Cubana de Aviación Flight 972 (CU972/CUB972) was a flight that took off from Havana, Cuba, heading to Holguín. On May 18, 2018, a Boeing 737 airplane crashed right after leaving the airport. It burst into flames near Santiago de las Vegas, which is about 19 kilometers (12 miles) from Havana.
Out of everyone on board, 108 people sadly died. Three people survived with very serious injuries, but one of them passed away later in the hospital.
