Early Life and Training
Curtiss Cook was born in Dayton, Ohio, on October 2, 1968. When he was a teenager, he loved to dance and was part of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Later, he moved to London to study acting at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. This training helped him prepare for his career on stage and screen.
Acting Career
After finishing his studies, Curtiss Cook moved to New York City to start his acting career. He performed on Broadway, which is a famous theater district. He was in big musicals like The Lion King and Miss Saigon.
He then moved into film and television, taking on many different roles. Some of his early movie appearances include The Interpreter (2005) and Arbitrage (2012).
On television, Cook has been in many well-known series. He played Terry Womack in House of Cards and Radd Campbell in Manifest. He also appeared as 'Pistol Pete' Stokes in Luke Cage and Bowen in Mayans M.C.. From 2019 to 2024, he played Otis 'Douda' Perry in the series The Chi.
In 2021, he appeared in the film West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg, where he played the character Abe. He also had a role in the 2024 film Carry-On.
Curtiss Cook has also lent his voice to video games. He voiced Virgil in The Warriors in 2005. He also provided the voice for a street preacher in several Grand Theft Auto games, including Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) and its expansions.
