The Cuvier Press Club building is a historic former house in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. You can find it at 22 Garfield Place. People in Cincinnati also call it the Fechheimer Mansion. Since 2006, it has been the main office for a company called LPK.

Building Design and History

This grand stone house has two stories. It was first owned by the Fechheimer family. Marcus Fechheimer asked famous architects Samuel Hannaford and Edwin Anderson to design it. This house is thought to be the oldest home still standing that Hannaford designed. He also created many other important buildings in the area. These include the Music Hall, City Hall, and the Cincinnati Observatory.

Architectural Style

The building is two stories tall. It features a special front entrance called a frontispiece. This part has many Neoclassical details. You can see Corinthian columns and pilasters (flat columns). There are also Corinthian designs on the cornice (top edge), entablature (upper part), and pediment (triangular roof part).

The house's style is called Italian Renaissance. It has a stone outside, Italian tile floors, and beautiful marble fireplaces. Many similar houses were built at the same time. However, most of them have lost their original look. The Fechheimer House is special because it still looks much like it did when it was built. When it was new, many homes lined its street. Today, this is the only one left.

How the Building Was Used

Over the years, the Cuvier Press Club building has had several different uses.

Clubhouse and Community Center

In 1938, the Cuvier Press Club moved into this building. They had been in a different location before. The club used the building as their meeting place.

On October 26, 1972, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized as an important historic site. A year later, the City of Cincinnati bought the building. It was then opened as a Senior Citizens' Center. This provided a place for older adults to gather.

Modern Office Space

In 2005, an advertising company called LPK bought the building. They started to redesign it. Their plan was to connect it with the nearby Butterfield Center. This would create a large main office and meeting area for the company.
