Cynthia A. Johnson (born August 19, 1958) is an American politician. She served as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022. She represented the 5th district in Michigan.

Early Life and Education
Cynthia A. Johnson was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 19, 1958. She went to Frank Cody High School. After high school, she studied to become a paralegal. A paralegal helps lawyers with their work.
She also earned two college degrees. She received an associate degree from Wayne County Community College. Later, she earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Walsh College.
Her Career in Politics
Cynthia A. Johnson worked hard to become a state representative. She ran for a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives five times. Finally, she was elected on November 6, 2018. She became the representative for District 5.
The Michigan House of Representatives is where state laws are made. As a representative, Ms. Johnson helped make decisions for her district. She worked on important issues for the people of Michigan.
Before becoming a representative, Ms. Johnson hosted a radio show. It was called StandUp Now with Cynthia A. Johnson. She started this show in 2013.
During her time in office, Ms. Johnson was part of several groups. She served as the Chaplain for the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. This group works to support Black lawmakers.
She also served on different committees. Committees are smaller groups that focus on specific topics. Ms. Johnson was on the Families, Children, and Seniors committee. She also served on the Agriculture committee. She was the Minority Chair of the House Oversight committee. This means she was a leader for her party on that committee.
Important Events in Her Term
In December 2020, Ms. Johnson was part of a House Oversight Committee meeting. This meeting discussed claims about the 2020 presidential election. Ms. Johnson did not agree with the claims of election problems.
After this meeting, Ms. Johnson received some upsetting messages. She then posted a video online. Because of the video's content, the Speaker of the Michigan House, Lee Chatfield, removed her from her committees.
Ms. Johnson wanted to run for re-election in 2022. However, she was not able to. This was because she did not submit some required paperwork for her campaign.

Cynthia A. Johnson is a Christian. Around 1975, she married Wallace F. Hoskins Jr.
