The DFC Heidenreichstein is a women's football club from Heidenreichstein, a town in Lower Austria, Austria. This club plays in the Landesliga Niederösterreich, which is the third division for women's soccer in Austria. History of the Club
The DFC Heidenreichstein club started in 1981. At first, it was a women's team that was part of the FC Heidenreichstein club. Soon after, the women's team became its own independent club.
In 1985, the team played in the Damenliga Ost. This was the second-highest level of women's soccer at that time. Just two years later, in 1987, they achieved a big goal. They were promoted for the first time to the ÖFB-Frauenliga, which is the top league in Austrian women's football.
The team faced some ups and downs. In 1990, they moved down a league, which is called being "relegated." But they didn't give up! They worked hard and were promoted back to the top league in 1992. The 1993/94 season was their best ever in the ÖFB-Frauenliga. They finished in third place!
The DFC Heidenreichstein also did well in cup competitions. In the 1992/93 season, they reached the final of the ÖFB-Ladies Cup. This is a big tournament where teams compete to win a trophy. They played against Union Kleinmünchen Linz but lost the match 2:0. They reached the cup final again in the 1994/95 season, but unfortunately, they lost to Kleinmünchen once more.
After these successful years, the team was relegated again in 1998. They played in the second division until 2009. In 2009, they moved down another league. Today, the DFC Heidenreichstein plays in the Landesliga Niederösterreich, which is the third level of women's soccer in Austria.
