Daiki Takamatsu (高松 大樹, Takamatsu Daiki, born September 8, 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward. He is best known for his long career with Oita Trinita. Takamatsu also played for the Japan national team.
Playing for Clubs
Daiki Takamatsu was born in Ube, Japan, on September 8, 1981. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Oita Trinita in 2000. At that time, Oita Trinita was in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football league.
In his first year, he played 6 games and scored 1 goal. By 2001, he became a regular player, appearing in 22 league games and scoring 8 goals. In 2002, his team, Oita Trinita, won the J2 League championship. This win meant they were promoted to the J1 League, Japan's top football league.
Takamatsu became a very important player for Oita Trinita. He played alongside other talented young players. From 2008, he was even chosen to be the team's captain.
In 2008, Oita Trinita achieved a big success. They won the J.League Cup, which was their first major title. Even though Takamatsu had some injuries that year, he scored the winning goal in the J.League Cup Final. Because of his great performance, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
However, in 2009, Oita Trinita faced tough times and was moved back down to the J2 League. Many key players left the club because of money problems. But Daiki Takamatsu decided to stay with the team.
In 2011, he moved to FC Tokyo for a short time on a loan. He returned to Oita Trinita in 2012. The club was promoted back to the J1 League in 2013. But they were relegated again to J2 in 2014, and then to J3 League in 2016. In 2016, Oita Trinita won the J3 League championship and moved back up to J2. Takamatsu played very few matches that year. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2016 season.
Playing for Japan
In August 2004, Daiki Takamatsu was chosen to play for the Japan U-23 national team. This team competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He played in all 3 matches for Japan in the Olympics. He also scored a goal against the Italian team.
The year 2006 was one of his best seasons for scoring goals in the league. This led to him being called up to the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on November 15, 2006. It was an Asian Cup qualification match against Saudi Arabia. He played a total of 2 games for Japan until 2007.
