Daishi Kato (加藤 大志, Katō Daishi, born July 26, 1983) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a Midfielder. He spent his career playing for several clubs in Japan's professional football leagues.

Daishi Kato's Football Journey

Daishi Kato was born in Asaka, Japan. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career. He joined Shonan Bellmare in 2002. This club played in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest professional football division.

Playing for Shonan Bellmare

During his three years with Shonan Bellmare, Daishi played in many games. He often came in as a substitute midfielder. This means he would enter the game to replace another player. He helped his team a lot from 2002 to 2004.

Moving to Kyoto Sanga FC

In 2005, Daishi moved to another J2 League club, Kyoto Purple Sanga. The team later changed its name to Kyoto Sanga FC. In the 2005 season, Kyoto Sanga FC won the J2 League championship! This meant they were promoted to the J1 League. The J1 League is Japan's top professional football division.

Kyoto Sanga FC moved between the J1 and J2 leagues over the next few years. Daishi continued to play as a substitute midfielder. However, he got fewer chances to play in games each year. By 2008, he hardly played at all.

Final Club and Retirement

In 2009, Daishi Kato moved to Yokohama FC, another club in the J2 League. He hoped for more playing time there. However, he still did not play in many matches. At the end of the 2009 season, Daishi decided to retire from professional football.
