Dalmacio Langarica Lizasoain (born December 5, 1919 – died January 24, 1985) was a famous Spanish bicycle racer. He competed as a professional during the 1940s and 1950s. After he stopped racing, he became a directeur sportif, which means he managed a cycling team.
Winning the Vuelta a España
Dalmacio Langarica won a very important bike race called the Vuelta a España in 1946. This race is one of the biggest cycling events in Spain. He rode over 3,797 kilometers (about 2,359 miles) across 23 stages to win! He beat many other strong riders to take first place.
In the 1948 Vuelta, Dalmacio tried hard to win again. He had a tough race and even fell during one stage. Even with the fall, he still finished fourth overall. He also came in second in the "King of the Mountains" competition, which is for the best climbers.
After Racing: Team Manager
After his career as a cyclist, Dalmacio Langarica became a directeur sportif. He managed the all-Spanish cycling team called KAS. In 1970, his team had a rider named Francisco Galdós who finished eighth in the 1970 Tour de France. This was the best finish for a Spanish rider in that race at the time.
