Damian Dame was an American R&B music group. They were popular in the early 1990s. The group had two members: Bruce Edward "Damian" Broadus and Debra Jean "Deah Dame" Hurd.

Music Career

In 1991, Damian Dame made history. They became the very first music act to sign with LaFace Records. This record label was started by Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. Debra Hurd had even sung backup for Babyface before.

The duo released their first album on May 14, 1991. It was called Damian Dame. This album had several popular songs. Two of their songs were "Exclusivity" and "Right Down to It."

Popular Songs

"Exclusivity" reached number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. "Right Down to It" reached number two on the same chart. Both songs also appeared on the main Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another song from the album was "Gotta Learn My Rhythm."

Group Members' Lives

Debra Jean "Deah Dame" Hurd passed away on June 27, 1994. She was 35 years old. Her death was due to a car accident in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bruce Edward "Damian" Broadus passed away exactly two years later. He died on June 27, 1996, at the age of 29. He had been battling colon cancer. His first solo album, 199Sex, had been released less than a week before his passing.
