Daniel Kennard (born September 3, 1883 – died May 21, 1947) was a talented baseball player. He was a catcher in the Negro Leagues for many years. He played both before and after the first Negro National League was formed.

Daniel Kennard was an important catcher in early baseball history. He played during a time when African American players could not join Major League Baseball. This led to the creation of the Negro Leagues. These leagues were full of amazing players and teams.

His Baseball Journey

Daniel Kennard played for several teams during his career. He started playing in 1913 with the French Lick Plutos. He was mostly known as a catcher. On July 28, 1915, Kennard joined the Indianapolis ABCs. He was 31 years old at the time. In his very first game for the ABCs, he even started as a pitcher! He continued to play for different teams, including the St. Louis Giants and the Detroit Stars, until 1925.

Later Life

Daniel Kennard passed away on May 21, 1947. He was 63 years old. He died in St. Louis, Missouri. He is buried at St. Peter's Cemetery in Hillsdale, Missouri.
