Olympic Games and European Success
Dan Waern represented Sweden in the Olympic Games. He competed in the 1500-meter race at both the 1956 Summer Olympics and the 1960 Summer Olympics. In the 1960 Olympics, he showed great skill by finishing fourth in the 1500 m event.
Before that, in 1958, Dan Waern won a silver medal at the European Athletics Championships. This was for the 1500 m race. In the same year, he also set a new world record for the 1000 m race.
National Titles and Amateur Rules
Dan Waern was also a champion in his home country. He won many Swedish national titles. He was the Swedish champion in the 800-meter race from 1958 to 1960. He also held the Swedish title for the 1500-meter race from 1956 to 1961.
