Danièle Claude Renée Tannenbaum, also known as Danièle Thompson (born January 3, 1942), is a talented Monegasque film director and screenwriter. She is the daughter of famous film director Gérard Oury and actress Jacqueline Roman.
About Danièle Thompson
Danièle Thompson was born in Monaco. In 1960, she moved to New York with her mother. Two years later, she married Richard Thompson. Danièle's son, Christopher Thompson, is also an actor. They have worked together on screenplays for movies like Jet Lag and Season's Beatings. Later, Danièle married producer and agent Albert Koski. For two years, she was an artist's model for the American painter Tom Wesselman.
Danièle Thompson's Work in Film
From the 1970s to the 1990s, Danièle Thompson mostly worked as a screenwriter. She wrote scripts for many successful films. Some of these include Cousin, cousine, La Boum, Belphégor - Le fantôme du Louvre, and La Reine Margot.
Later, she also started directing movies. One of the films she both wrote and directed was Jet Lag. In 1976, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her writing on Cousin, cousine. Her 2006 film, Fauteuils d'orchestre, was chosen to represent France for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
In 2016, she directed a French film called Cezanne et moi. This movie was about the friendship between the famous painter Paul Cézanne and writer Émile Zola. More recently, in 2023, Danièle Thompson was the writer and director for a television series called Bardot, which was about the life of Brigitte Bardot.
