Playing for Clubs

Early Career in Argentina

Daniel Biloš was born in Pergamino, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. He started playing football for a smaller team called Sportivo Pergamino in 1999. Soon after, a bigger club, Banfield, noticed him. He played for Banfield for four years. During this time, he even played in the 2005 Copa Libertadores, which is a big football tournament in South America. In July 2005, he joined Boca Juniors, a very famous Argentine club.

Success at Boca Juniors

At Boca Juniors, Daniel won many important titles. These included the 2005 Copa Sudamericana and two Argentine league championships. These championships were the Apertura 2005 and Clausura 2006.

Moving to Europe and Mexico

In the summer of 2006, Daniel moved to France. He signed a three-year contract with the French team AS Saint-Étienne. The club paid about £1 million for him. After six months in the French league, he was loaned to a Mexican club. This club was Club América, and he joined them on January 15, 2007. He was supposed to stay for one year. However, he did not play very well, so he was sent back.

Return to Argentina

After his time in Mexico, Daniel was traded to San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina. This was for the 2007 Apertura Championship. By late November 2007, Daniel was injured. He was not expected to play competitive football again until 2008.

After nine years, Daniel returned to Banfield on August 4, 2009. He had played for San Lorenzo de Almagro the previous season. He was part of the Banfield team that won the Argentine championship. This was the first time in the club's history they won this title. They won the Apertura 2009 championship on the very last day of the season.

Retirement and Comeback

Daniel decided to stop playing professional football in December 2009. He was 29 years old. This was because he could not recover from a knee injury. This injury had kept him out of the Banfield team. However, he returned to football in 2011. He played for Douglas Haig.

Choosing His Country

Daniel Biloš has family from Croatia. Because of this, he was offered the chance to play for the Croatian national team in 2006. This was for the World Cup in Germany. But he said no to the offer. He felt he still had a chance to play for Argentina, the country where he was born.

Making His Debut

After Argentina lost in the World Cup quarter-finals, their coach, José Pekerman, left. Alfio Basile then became the new manager for Argentina. This was a great chance for Daniel to join the Argentine squad. Basile had been his manager at Boca Juniors before.

Daniel played his first game for Argentina against Brazil. This friendly match was held at the Emirates Stadium in London, England. Argentina did not play very well and lost 3–0. But Basile still believed in Daniel. He continued to pick him for later Argentina teams.

First International Goal

On October 10, 2006, Daniel scored his first and only goal for Argentina. This was during a friendly match against Spain. Argentina lost the game 2–1.
