Daphne Constance Allen (born January 6, 1899, died 1985) was a talented English artist. She became well-known at a young age for her paintings and drawings. Throughout her life, she often painted religious scenes and beautiful landscapes.

Early Life and Art Training

Daphne Allen was born in Stamford Hill, London. She learned to paint from a very young age. Her parents taught her, and her father, Hugh Allen, was also a painter. She even took special art classes in Chelsea.

Published Works and Exhibitions

When Daphne was still a child, she had two of her own books published! They were called The Birth of the Opal and A Child's Visions. She also drew pictures for other books. Some of these were for her father's books, and one was for a book called The Birch Tree by Agnes Hart.

Daphne also started showing her artwork in galleries. She exhibited with the Society of Women Artists. Her art was displayed at places like the Burlington Gallery, the Dudley Gallery, and the Drummond Gallery.

Later Life and Recognition

For many years, Daphne Allen lived in Chalford, Gloucestershire. She often took part in art shows with other artists in that area. She was a member of important art groups. These included the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colors and the Streatham Society.

Daphne's illustrations appeared in several popular magazines. These included The Illustrated London News, The Sketch, and Tatler. Companies like the Medici Society and A R Mowbray (who published religious books) also made prints of her artwork. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has some of her early drawings. Daphne Allen passed away in Nailsworth, Gloucester, in 1985.
