David Thornbury (born in 1948) is an American expert at trick roping and a skilled saddle maker. He is known for his amazing rope tricks and for creating beautiful leather saddles.

David Thornbury's Career

David Thornbury was born in 1948. He started using a lasso when he was just three years old! He once said that when he was a kid, there were "No computer games, no TV, no electronics — just the rope I grew up on."

His father, J.D., was a trick horse rider. This meant David grew up traveling from one rodeo to another. His family performed exciting shows all across the Midwest.

When David became an adult, he first learned how to make saddles in Michigan. He later improved his skills from a talented saddler named Mervyn Ringlero, who was from the Pima people.

In the 1970s, David moved to California. His saddles and other leather items became very famous around the world. He even made special leather goods for Hollywood stuntmen! David also continued to ride in rodeos as a Bronc rider, which is a type of rodeo cowboy who rides wild horses.

David Thornbury's Personal Life

David Thornbury lives in a place called Agoura Hills. He often performs his lasso tricks at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival.
