David A. Brennen is an American lawyer and a leader in legal education. He is known for his work as a dean at a law school. In 2009, he became the dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Early Life and Education
David A. Brennen was born on October 30, 1966. He studied finance at Florida Atlantic University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1988. Later, he went to the University of Florida. There, he earned two special law degrees: a Juris Doctor (JD) in 1991 and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation in 1994. These degrees helped him become an expert in law, especially tax law.
His Career Journey
After finishing his education, David Brennen began his career in legal education.
- Teaching Law: From 2006 to 2009, he was a professor at the University of Georgia School of Law. He taught future lawyers there.
- Becoming a Dean: In 2009, he moved to the University of Kentucky College of Law. He became the dean, which means he was the main leader of the law school.
- Special Recognition: While he was dean, he was chosen for a special program called the American Council on Education (ACE) Fellowship. This program helps leaders in education grow even more. He was also named to the Lawyers of Color's Fourth Annual Power List. This list recognizes influential and important lawyers of color.
