David Tiva Kapu is a very important leader in the Solomon Islands. He is a priest in the Anglican Church. Since 2024, he has held the special job of Governor-General of the Solomon Islands. This means he is the representative of the King of the Solomon Islands, Charles III, in the country.
His Education
David Tiva Kapu studied a lot to prepare for his important roles. He earned a special degree called a Master of Theology. He got this degree from the Pacific Theological College.
For his master's degree, he wrote a big paper. It was about the relationship between the church and the government. He looked at how they worked together in the Nggela Islands of the Solomon Islands. His study covered the years from 1932 to 2007.
His Important Role
Before becoming Governor-General, Reverend Kapu worked at a school. He was the academic dean of studies at Bishop Patteson Theological College in Kohimarama, Solomon Islands. This means he helped guide the studies of students there.
In June 2024, something very special happened. David Tiva Kapu was the only person suggested for the job of Governor-General. This is a very high position. The Governor-General represents the King or Queen in the country.
He was chosen as Governor-General on June 17, 2024. He took over the job from Sir David Vunagi. His term officially began on July 7, 2024. This date is also Independence Day in the Solomon Islands, which makes it even more special.
