DeMossville is located right next to the Licking River. This river flows through Kentucky and is a branch of the Ohio River. The community is about 35 miles (56 kilometers) south of Cincinnati, Ohio. History of the Community

The community of DeMossville was started in 1852. It was named after the DeMoss family, who were early settlers in the area. One important member of this family was Peter DeMoss. He was an immigrant from France. Peter DeMoss was also a soldier who fought in the American Revolutionary War. This was the war where the American colonies fought for their independence from Great Britain. Some stories say that Peter DeMoss might have traveled to America with a famous French general named Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette was a hero who helped the American colonists win their freedom.
