Adrian Mines (also called Adrian or De Lancey) is a small, unincorporated community located in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and buildings that are part of a larger area, but they don't have their own local government like a city or town would.
History
Adrian Mines began around 1887. It was created as a mining community, which means it was a place where people lived and worked near mines. They would dig for valuable minerals and resources from the ground.
The community got its name from Adrian Iselin. He was the person who owned or started the mining operations in the area.
There is a post office in Adrian Mines that is called De Lancey. This post office has been open and serving the community since 1888.
