Deborah Drattell (born in 1956) is a talented American composer. She writes music for operas and for orchestras. She was born in Brooklyn, New York. Deborah started her musical journey as a violinist.

Her Music and Performances

Deborah Drattell's music has been performed by many famous groups. These include the New York Philharmonic and the Orchestra of St. Luke's. Her works have also been featured at big music events. Some of these are the Tanglewood and Caramoor Music Festivals.

She once changed a character's singing part in her opera Nicholas and Alexandra. The villain, Rasputin, was originally for a baritone singer. But the famous singer Plácido Domingo wanted to sing the role. He is a tenor, so Deborah rewrote the part just for him.
