Deborah Silver's Education
Deborah Silver studied computer science at Columbia University. She earned her first degree there in 1984. She then went to Princeton University. She received her master's degree in 1986. She completed her Ph.D. (a very advanced degree) in 1988. Her main teacher for her Ph.D. was David P. Dobkin.
Helping the Computer Science Community
Dr. Silver has done a lot to help the field of visualization. She has held many important roles in the IEEE. This is a large organization for engineers and computer scientists. From 2021 to 2023, she was on the Board of Governors for the IEEE Computer Society. This group helps guide the computer science community.
