Delores Phillips (born September 26, 1950 – died June 7, 2014) was an American writer. She is best known for her first book, The Darkest Child, which came out in 2005.
Delores Phillips was born in Georgia, a state in the southern United States. Her book explores what life was like for people in the rural South during the 1950s, especially how different groups of people lived and interacted.
She studied at Cleveland State University. After graduating, she worked as a nurse in Cleveland, helping women and children who needed care. Delores Phillips also wrote poetry. Her poems were published in magazines like Jean’s Journal, Black Times, and The Crisis. She passed away at the age of 63.

Delores Phillips's most well-known work is her novel, The Darkest Child. This book was first published by Soho Press in 2005. A new edition of the book was released in 2018, which included an introduction by another author, Tayari Jones.
