Denis Bond was an English lawyer and politician. He lived from 1676 to 1747. He came from a place called Creech Grange in Dorset. Denis Bond was a member of the British Parliament. He served there from 1709 to 1732. He had to leave Parliament because of some money issues.

Denis Bond was the older son of Nathaniel Bond. His father was a rich lawyer. His family were merchants from Dorchester. They bought Creech Grange, a large estate, in 1691. Denis studied law at Inner Temple. He became a lawyer in 1703. He took over Creech Grange when his father passed away in 1707.

His Work as a Politician

Denis Bond became a "Recorder" in 1707. This was a legal job in Dorchester and Weymouth. He kept this job for his whole life. He first tried to become a Member of Parliament (MP) in 1708. He ran for the area of Wareham but did not win.

In 1709, he won a special election. He became an MP for Dorchester. However, he lost the next election in 1710. He did not run for Parliament in 1713. In 1714, he got a job carrying the King's letters. He held this job for the rest of his life.

In 1715, Denis Bond was elected MP for Corfe Castle. In 1716, he became a Commissioner. This meant he helped manage properties that had been taken by the government. He also became a Recorder for Poole in 1719.

He was re-elected without anyone running against him in 1722. He became the Recorder for Wareham in 1724. In 1725, he joined a group called the Charitable Corporation. This group helped people with loans. In 1727, he changed seats. He was elected MP for Poole without opposition.

Later Life

Denis Bond passed away on January 30, 1747. He had married Leonara Sophia Dummer in 1729. She was the daughter of a diplomat named Sir William Dutton Colt. Denis and Leonara did not have any children. His estates, including Creech Grange, went to his nephew, John Bond.
