Dig & Dug with Daisy is a fun stop-motion animated TV show. It was made in the United Kingdom in 1993. The company that produced it was Dorling Kindersley. They are also known for their Eyewitness Books series.

The show has sixteen episodes, each about ten minutes long. Richard Everett created the characters and wrote the stories. Channel 4 first showed the series in 1994. Later, it also aired on children's channels like Channel 5 from 2002 to 2004.

The show is about two clumsy construction workers named Dig and Dug. They always have a task to complete in each short episode. Like the famous comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, they often get into funny situations. The show also teaches kids about how construction works. George Layton tells the story as the narrator. Terry Ward created, produced, and directed the animated series.

Meet the Main Characters

This section introduces the important characters from the show.

  • Dig: Dig is one of the main construction workers. He is young, tall, and thin. Dig is very eager and wants to work hard. But he can be a bit innocent and easily scared. He doesn't have much experience, which often leads to funny problems! Still, Dig is slowly learning more about machines and building. He is probably in his early 30s.
  • Dug: Dug is Dig's partner. He is shorter and a bit older than Dig. Dug knows a little more about machines. However, he is just as clumsy and innocent as Dig. Dug often tries to be in charge of their jobs. But his mistakes usually get them both into trouble. He can even turn small problems into big ones. Dug is likely in his 40s.
  • Daisy: Daisy is Dug's niece. She is much smarter than both Dig and Dug combined! Because of her cleverness, Daisy and her Aunt Beth can solve almost any problem. They often fix the messes Dig and Dug create. We don't see Daisy's parents in the show. It's likely that Uncle Dug is the brother of one of her parents.
  • Farmer Stubble: Farmer Stubble lives at Merryweather Farm. He was a main character in the first four episodes. These episodes were 'The New Tractor', 'Turnips in the Lane', 'Fencing the Field', and 'Trouble at the Haybarn'. His first name is Ernest, and his wife's name is Mildred. Mrs. Stubble appeared in 'The New Tractor' and 'Trouble at the Haybarn'. Farmer Stubble appeared alone in 'Turnips in the Lane' and 'Fencing the Field'. As his name suggests, he has a stubble beard. He and Mildred also appeared in 'Night Patrol'. Ernest was also in 'The New Office'. They even showed up in flashbacks in 'The 100th Tractor'.
  • Mr. Rubble: Mr. Rubble is Dig and Dug's boss at the building site. His voice is loud and booming. We don't know what accent he has. He only appeared in four episodes: 'Mrs. Sparkle's Shed', 'Cement Pudding', 'Mr. Rubble's Wall', and 'Daisy's Kite'. He is not the same as Barney Rubble from The Flintstones.
  • Mr. MacAdam: Mr. MacAdam is Dig and Dug's boss at the roadworks site. He is very good with machines and construction. But if you look closely, Mr. MacAdam can be just as clumsy as Dig and Dug! He speaks with a Scottish accent. He appeared in 'Night Patrol', 'Nowhere to Park', 'The Giant Molehill', and 'Race to the Finish'.
  • Mr. Packet: Mr. Packet is the manager of the tractor factory where Dig and Dug work. He speaks with a Welsh accent. He can hear voices inside the factory. Mr. Packet deals with problems like Oswald behaving badly. He also gets upset when his new office arrives late. He even solves Oswald's problem by saying they ran out of paint in 'The 100th Tractor'. He appeared in 'All Hooked Up', 'Oswald Misbehaves', 'The New Office', and 'The 100th Tractor'.
