The Dimeling Hotel is a very old and important building in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, United States. It used to be a fancy hotel with seven floors and 120 rooms. It was built a long time ago, between 1904 and 1905.
Two brothers, Louis and Michael J. Beezer, who were architects from Pittsburgh, designed this beautiful building. It stands right across from the Clearfield County Courthouse.
The hotel stopped working in 1977. But people in the community wanted to save this special building! So, in 1998, some people bought it for just $1. They worked for almost two years to change it into apartments for older people. It reopened in 1999 as the Dimeling Senior Residence.

The Dimeling Hotel is a tall building with seven floors. It was built in a style called Beaux Arts. This style was popular a long time ago and often features grand, fancy designs.
From Hotel to Home
For many years, the Dimeling Hotel welcomed travelers and guests. It was a busy place in Clearfield. But like many old buildings, it eventually closed its doors as a hotel in 1977.
However, the story of the Dimeling Hotel didn't end there! The people of Clearfield wanted to protect this historic landmark. They worked together to find a new use for the building.
In 1998, a group of people bought the building for a very small price – just one dollar! They had a plan to give it a new life. Over the next two years, they carefully fixed up the building. They changed the old hotel rooms into comfortable apartments for senior citizens. In 1999, the building opened again as the Dimeling Senior Residence, providing homes for older adults.
A Recognized Landmark
Because of its history and special design, the Dimeling Hotel is considered a very important building. On April 10, 1980, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of buildings, sites, and objects that are important in American history. Being on this list helps protect the building and recognize its value.
