Dimitris Horn was born in Athens, Greece, in 1921. His father, Pantelis Horn, was a well-known writer of plays. His mother, Euterpi, was of Greek heritage from the Pontus region.
Early Life and Training
Dimitris studied acting at the National Theatre of Greece Drama School. He made his first appearance on stage in 1941. Throughout his career, he worked closely with the Greek National Theater. He also created his own acting groups. He worked with other famous actors like Mary Aroni and Alekos Alexandrakis. He was also partners with actress Ellie Lambeti from 1953 to 1958.
A Talented Actor
From early on, Dimitris Horn was known as "the best actor of his generation." He performed in many classic plays. Some of these included "Diary of a Madman" by Nikolai Gogol. He also starred in Richard III by William Shakespeare. Other famous roles were in Dom Juan by Molière and Enrico IV by Luigi Pirandello. Critics loved his performances in these plays.
His Film Work

Later in his life, Dimitris Horn married Anna Goulandri. She came from a family famous for shipping. After Greece became a democracy again, he became the first director of the Greek State Radio and Television. Dimitris Horn passed away from cancer on January 16, 1998, when he was 76 years old.
