Dominique Danton Thompson-Williams, born on April 21, 1995, is a former American professional baseball player. He played as an Outfielder during his career.
Playing Baseball: Dom Thompson-Williams's Journey
Dom Thompson-Williams grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. He went to East High School there. In 2013, he was chosen as the best high school baseball player in the state!
After high school, he attended Iowa Western Community College in 2014. Later, he moved to the University of South Carolina. He played for the South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team in 2016.
Playing for the New York Yankees
The New York Yankees picked Dom Thompson-Williams in the 2016 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. He was chosen in the fifth round. This meant he could start his professional baseball career.
He began playing for the Staten Island Yankees. This team was in a league called Low-A. In 56 games, he hit three home runs. He also had 16 RBIs (runs batted in) and stole 15 bases.
In 2017, Dom started with the Staten Island Yankees again. In August, he moved up to the Charleston RiverDogs. This team was in a Single-A league. That year, he played 64 games. He hit three home runs and had 28 RBIs.
The 2018 season was a big one for Dom. He started with the Charleston RiverDogs. Then he was promoted to the Tampa Tarpons. This team played in a High-A league. The Yankees even promoted him to the Trenton Thunder for the playoffs. This was a Double-A team.
In 2018, he played 100 games in total. He hit 22 home runs and had 74 RBIs. He also stole 20 bases! His batting average was very good, too.
Moving to the Seattle Mariners
On November 19, 2018, Dom Thompson-Williams was traded. The Yankees sent him to the Seattle Mariners. Two other players, Justus Sheffield and Erik Swanson, also went to the Mariners. In return, the Yankees received James Paxton.
Dom started the 2019 season with the Arkansas Travelers. This was a Double-A team in the Texas League. He played 115 games for them. He hit 12 home runs and had 41 RBIs. He also stole 15 bases.
In February 2020, Dom had surgery on his Achilles tendon. This meant he missed the whole 2020 season. That season was also cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He returned to play for the Arkansas Travelers in 2021. He played in 58 games that year. On April 2, 2022, the Mariners organization released him.
