The Story of Don Joseph Pear

A Mysterious Pear Thief

Once upon a time, there were three brothers who owned a special pear tree. This tree was very important because it provided all the pears they needed to live. But one day, something strange happened: all the pears were stolen! The brothers decided they needed to find out who the thief was. So, they took turns watching the tree at night.

Don Joseph's Cleverness

The two older brothers tried to stay awake, but they both fell asleep during their watch. When it was the youngest brother's turn, a young man named Don Joseph, he stayed wide awake. As he watched, a sneaky fox came to steal more pears. Don Joseph quickly stopped the fox and scared him away.

The fox, wanting to escape, made a big promise to Don Joseph. He said that if Don Joseph let him go, he would help Don Joseph marry the king's daughter! Don Joseph didn't really believe the fox, but he let him go anyway.

The Fox's Smart Tricks

The clever fox then started his plan. He hunted lots of different animals and brought them to the king as gifts, saying they were from "Don Joseph Pear." This made the king think that Don Joseph was a very generous and important person.

Next, the fox visited a giantess who had lots of gold and silver. He tricked her into thinking it was time to share her treasures. Then, the fox went back to the king and asked for a special measuring tool for Don Joseph to divide all his "gold and silver." This made the king truly believe that Don Joseph was incredibly rich!

A Royal Journey

The fox then helped Don Joseph get dressed in fancy clothes, making him look like a prince. Don Joseph then joined the king and his daughter on a journey. The fox went ahead of them. When they passed by farmers, the fox warned them to say that all the land and animals belonged to Don Joseph. This made the king even more impressed with Don Joseph's supposed wealth.

The fox continued to the giantess's castle. He told her that many people were coming and suggested she hide in a well. The giantess followed his advice, and the fox made sure she couldn't come out, keeping her from causing any more trouble.

The End of the Adventure

One day, Don Joseph accidentally threw some dust into the fox's eyes. The fox got upset and threatened to reveal all the tricks he had played. Don Joseph, worried, threw a jar at the fox, which sadly ended the fox's adventures. Even though the fox was gone, Don Joseph still lived happily ever after, thanks to the fox's clever plans.
