Her Journey in Technology

Professor Monekosso started her career in space! She worked at Surrey Satellite Technology. There, she helped build computers for small satellites and spacecraft. While studying for her PhD at the Surrey Space Centre, she became very interested in machine learning. This is where computers learn from data. She then started creating smart systems and robots. These systems help with security and healthcare.

In 2015, she moved from Bournemouth University. She became a computer science professor at Leeds Beckett University.

Achievements and Recognition

In March 2020, Professor Monekosso was part of a special event. She was one of 40 black women professors featured in an exhibition. It was called Phenomenal Women. Also in 2020, she received a big honor. The British Computer Society gave her an Honorary Fellowship. This was for her amazing work on Smart Homes. These homes help people living with dementia. She also works hard to encourage more diversity in the tech world.
