Dorothy Morrison (born January 3, 1919 – died October 18, 2017) was a talented American actress. She later became known as Dorothy Morrison Green after she married. Dorothy started acting when she was a very young child. She became famous for appearing in some of the Our Gang short films. These popular films were created by Hal Roach.
Dorothy was born in Los Angeles, California. Her older brother, Ernie Morrison, was also an actor. He was known as Sunshine Sammy. He also appeared in the Our Gang film series alongside his sister.
Early Life and Acting
Dorothy Morrison began her acting career very early. She was only three years old when she first appeared in a film in 1922. This was a time when movies were silent, meaning they had no spoken dialogue. Actors had to use their expressions and body language to tell the story.
The Our Gang Films
Dorothy is best known for her roles in the Our Gang comedies. These films were also called The Little Rascals. They featured a group of neighborhood children and their adventures. The films were very popular because they showed kids being kids. They often got into funny situations.
Dorothy was one of the first African-American child actresses in these films. She helped make the series diverse and relatable to many different audiences.
