The Dr. J. R. Mosier Office is a special old building in Meadville, Pennsylvania. It was once a doctor's office. This historic place was built around 1890. It is a small building made of wood. The outside has overlapping wooden boards called clapboard. It also has a "false front," which means the front wall is taller than the roof behind it. This made the building look bigger.
Inside, the office has three rooms. These rooms are set up just like they were in 1938. There is a waiting room for patients. There is also an examination room where the doctor worked. Finally, there is a pharmacy where medicines were prepared.
A Journey Through Time
This old office has moved! It was originally in a village called Littles Corners. This village is about 7 miles northwest of Meadville. In 1975, the building was carefully moved. It found a new home on the property of the Baldwin-Reynolds House.
Today, the Dr. J. R. Mosier Office is a medical museum. The Crawford County Historical Society takes care of it. They help people learn about what a doctor's office was like long ago. It is like stepping back in time to see how doctors practiced medicine.
A Recognized Historic Place
The Dr. J. R. Mosier Office is very important. Because of its history, it was added to a special list. This list is called the National Register of Historic Places. It was added to this list on June 13, 1976. Being on this list means it is a place worth protecting. It helps us remember the past.
