Dragan Lukić was born in Belgrade, a big city in Serbia. His father, Aleksandar, worked with printing presses. This meant young Dragan grew up surrounded by books. He loved reading from a very young age.
His Early Writing
Dragan Lukić started publishing his writings in 1946. By the 1950s, he became a well-known poet for children. In 1952, he published his first two books. These were poetry-picture books called The Great Race and Animals as Football Players. Imagine animals playing football!
Education and Career
In 1954, Dragan Lukić finished his studies at the University of Belgrade. He studied literature, which is the study of books and writing. After graduating, he taught children's literature. Later, he started working at Radio Belgrade. He was an editor for children's programs. He stayed there until he retired.

Dragan Lukić wrote many different types of things. He wrote poems, short stories, and even longer novels. He also wrote plays and articles about literature. He hosted television and radio shows too.

Dragan Lukić passed away on January 1, 2006, after a long illness. His stories and poems continue to be loved by children today.
