Luwayne Glass, known as Dreamcrusher, is a musician from Brooklyn, New York. They create a unique type of music called noise music. Dreamcrusher's music has been featured in popular magazines and websites like Pitchfork and FADER. They even had a mini-documentary on PBS Digital Studios' Sound Field.
Early Life and Music Career
Glass started making music as a teenager. They shared their early songs on Myspace. They call their music "revolt musik." After many years of performing and releasing over twenty independent songs, Glass moved to New York City in 2015.
In 2015, Fire Talk Records released Dreamcrusher's music called Hackers All of Them Hackers. This music was very popular. It was even named one of the best albums of 2015 by magazines like Impose and SPIN.
In 2016, Dreamcrusher's music was part of the NOISE album from Adult Swim. This album also featured other well-known artists. Dreamcrusher also worked with the band Show Me the Body on their album Corpus I. They appeared in a music video for it in 2017.
In 2018, Dreamcrusher released Grudge2. This music helped them become known as a top noise artist in New York. One song on the album, "Youth Problem," features vocals by Alice Glass.
Glass released two full-length albums in the summer of 2020. The album Panopticon! came out in May. It was listed as one of the best albums of 2020 by several music sites. One month later, Glass released Another Country. This album was also recognized as a top release of 2020.
In October 2020, PBS Digital Studios' Sound Field created a mini-documentary about Dreamcrusher. It was called "The Untold Story of Noise and Experimental Music." The video was filmed in Brooklyn during the pandemic. It included an interview and a live performance at Saint Vitus.
Live Performances
Dreamcrusher is known for their exciting live shows. FLOOD magazine described their performances as a "full-on, full-body sensory experience." Glass likes to interact with the audience instead of just performing on a stage. They often move through the crowd. They sometimes wear a strobing headlamp. This light shines on the audience, making them part of the show.
People who watch Dreamcrusher's shows often say they are very loud and unpredictable. The bright, flashing lights can sometimes make people feel a bit disoriented. However, many also find these experiences to be very powerful and unique.
