Dru's Music Journey
Starting with In Essence
Dru began his music career in 1993. He was the lead singer for an R&B group called In Essence. The group released an album named The Master Plan. One of their popular songs was "You'll Never Find." This song was even featured on a well-known music release called 60 Minutes of Funk Vol. 4. The group In Essence won a Juno Award in 2004.
Solo Career and First Album
After his time with In Essence, Dru started his solo career. His first solo album was called The One, released in 2008. The Toronto Star newspaper gave the album a good review. Canada's top radio station, CHUM FM, also named him their "emerging artist of the Month."
Dru's first three solo songs became very popular on national radio. These songs were "The One," "Stay with Me (Always)," and "Seasons."
Big Hits and Awards
In 2009, Dru became even more famous. He was featured on a hit song called "Runnin'" by DJs Doman & Gooding. This song was very popular on radio and video charts in both Canada and the UK. Because of "Runnin'," Dru received another Juno Award nomination in 2010. This time, it was for "Dance Recording of The Year."
Billboard Magazine, a very important music magazine, has called Dru "one of the most important emerging Canadian artists." In 2011, Dru released a new song called "Gettin It In." This song was from his album On The Brink.
