The Drumossie Hotel in Inverness.

The Drumossie Hotel is a special hotel and meeting place located about two kilometers southeast of Inverness, Scotland. It was built in the unique art deco style, which was popular in the 1920s and 1930s.

A Look Back: The Drumossie Hotel's Story

The Drumossie Hotel was built around 1930. It was designed by an architect named Carruthers May. At first, it was a traditional "roadhouse." This was a place where travelers could stop for a rest, a meal, or to stay the night.

The Hotel During World War II

During the Second World War, the hotel played an important role. In June 1940, the government took over the building. It became the main office for No. 14 Group RAF, a part of the Royal Air Force. This group helped protect the skies during the war.

The RAF headquarters moved to a different place in 1941. After that, the building went back to being a hotel.

Changing Names and Owners

Over the years, the hotel had a few different names. By the 1970s, it was known as the "Royal Stuart Motor Hotel." Later, it became known as the "Drumossie Hotel" again.

In the 1990s, a company called Shearings operated the hotel. Since then, it has been bought by Macdonald Hotels, another hotel company. Today, it continues to be a popular place for visitors and events.
