Duncan Thornton was born on June 14, 1962. He is a Canadian author, speaker, and someone who thinks about the future (a futurist). He was born in a place called Gods Lake Narrows, Manitoba. His father was a minister there. A few years later, his family moved to Winnipeg.

Duncan Thornton's Early Life and Education

When Duncan was 13, he left school for a while. But at age 20, he decided to go back to university. He studied at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Later, he graduated from the University of Winnipeg. He earned degrees in English and History. He also continued his studies in English at Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Manitoba. Today, Duncan lives in Winnipeg with his wife, Brenda Hasiuk, who is also an author. They have two children.

Helping Others with Health Challenges

In 2009, Duncan Thornton was diagnosed with a health condition called multiple sclerosis (MS). This condition affects the brain and spinal cord. In 2010, he traveled to Poland for a special treatment. This treatment was for a blood vessel issue often seen in people with MS.

Duncan has often spoken in the media about his experience. He shared how the treatment helped him. He also helped start a group called CCSVI Manitoba. This group works to help other people in Manitoba with MS get access to similar tests and treatments.
