Redhills is a special building in Durham, England. It is the main office for the Durham Miners' Association (DMA). The DMA is a group that used to represent coal miners in the Durham area. Even though its official name is "Miners' New Hall," everyone calls it Redhills because it is on Redhills Lane.
The building was designed by H. T. Gradon. It opened in 1915. Its style is called Edwardian Baroque, which means it has a grand and fancy look, popular during the Edwardian era. Inside, there is a large room where important meetings were held. This room was known as the "Pitman's Parliament." It was a place where miners could discuss important issues and make decisions.

The Future of Redhills
Redhills is currently being updated and restored. In 2020, the National Lottery Heritage Fund gave a large grant of £4 million. This money helps to fix up the building. The goal is to make Redhills a lively community and arts center for everyone to enjoy.
Restoration Work Underway
As part of the restoration plan, the Durham Miners' Association transferred ownership of the site. This happened in 2021. The building is now owned by the Redhills Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This group is working to make sure Redhills can serve the community for many years. The renovation work began in 2022.
What Happens at Redhills Today?
Redhills is a busy place. Different groups use the building for their activities. For example, the Durham School of English holds classes there. It helps people learn the English language.
Political Connections
The building also houses the office of a local politician. Mary Foy, a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Labour Party, has her office at Redhills. MPs are elected to represent people in their area. They work to help their communities.
