How Dyfodol i'r Iaith Is Funded
Dyfodol i'r Iaith is a group that works on its own. It does not get money from political parties. The only ways it gets money are from people who become members. It also gets donations from individuals and companies. These people and companies believe in the group's goals. They want to help make sure the Welsh language has a strong future.
What Dyfodol i'r Iaith Does
Since it started, Dyfodol i'r Iaith has worked hard for many things. They have helped to create about twelve Welsh Language Centres. These centres help people learn and use Welsh. They also pushed for a second popular Welsh-language radio channel. This channel is called BBC Radio Cymru 2.
The group also makes sure the Welsh language is thought about in building plans. They helped set up the Canolfan Genedlaethol Cymraeg i Oedolion. This is the 'National Welsh-language Centre for Adults'. They also believe it's important to promote Welsh in communities. They want to see more Welsh used in schools too. Dyfodol i'r Iaith also helped establish the idea of planning for the Welsh language in a complete way. This means looking at all parts of life where the language is used.
Dyfodol i'r Iaith is part of a bigger group called Dathlu'r Gymraeg. In 2019, the group published a book called Planning the Regeneration of the Welsh Language. This book talked about the most important things needed for language planning. These ideas were also used in another book in November 2020. This book was called Aspiration and Achievement – Dyfodol i'r Iaith's proposals for Welsh-language Policy 2021-2026. It shared the group's ideas for the 2021 Senedd election.
Dyfodol i'r Iaith hopes the Welsh Government will create a special language authority. This would be a separate group with enough money and power. Its job would be to guide the Welsh language into the future.
