The History of Dykes
How Dykes Got Its Name
A long time ago, in 1871, a post office opened in Dykes. A post office was very important back then because it was how people sent and received letters and packages. This post office stayed open for many years, until 1933. The community of Dykes was named after a person named John Dykes. He was an early settler, meaning he was one of the first people to live and help build up the area.
