Eóin Tennyson (born 17 May 1998) is a politician from Northern Ireland. He became the Deputy Leader of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland in October 2024. He took over this role from Stephen Farry.
Since 2022, Eóin has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Upper Bann. He won his seat in the 2022 election. He is known for being the youngest MLA in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Early Life and Education
Eóin Tennyson went to St. Patrick's Academy in Dungannon. This was a Catholic grammar school. After school, he studied accounting at Queen's University Belfast. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2019.
While at university, he was chosen to be the chair of Alliance Youth. In 2020, he continued his studies at University College Dublin. He earned a Master of Accounting degree there. Later, he worked as an auditor at Deloitte in Belfast.
Political Journey
Starting in Local Politics
Eóin Tennyson began his political career in local government. He was elected to the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council in 2019. He represented the Lagan River area. He won a seat that was previously held by another party.
In December 2019, he also ran in the general election for Upper Bann. He came in third place. Even though he did not win, he gained a lot of support.
Becoming an MLA
In the 2022 Assembly election, Eóin Tennyson was elected as an MLA for Upper Bann. He won his seat from Dolores Kelly. He received many votes, increasing his party's share.
At 23 years old, he became the youngest MLA elected to the Assembly. This gave him the unofficial title of "Baby of the House." After the government was formed in February 2024, Eóin joined the Committee for Finance. He also became a member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board.
He ran again for Upper Bann in the 2024 general election. He finished in third place.
Campaign for Deputy Leader
On 24 September 2024, Eóin Tennyson announced he would run for Deputy Leader. This was for the Alliance Party deputy leadership election. Another MLA, Kate Nicholl, also ran for the position.
Eóin shared a video online about his campaign. He said he wanted to build on the work of the previous deputy leader, Stephen Farry. He also wanted to work with party leader Naomi Long to help the party grow even more.
Becoming Deputy Leader
Eóin Tennyson was elected Deputy Leader of the Alliance Party on 8 October 2024. He shared his excitement about working with party leader Naomi Long. He called it a very important new role.
