E. R. Frank is an American writer who creates stories for young people. She writes both young adult (teen) fiction and middle-grade fiction. Besides writing, she is also a social worker and a psychotherapist. This means she helps people deal with difficult feelings and experiences.

Frank won the Teen People Book Club NEXT Award for her very first novel, Life Is Funny, which came out in 2000. Her book America, published in 2002, was even made into a TV movie in 2009. Famous actors like Rosie O'Donnell starred in it.

E. R. Frank is the granddaughter of Gerold Frank, who was a well-known American writer of biographies. She studied at Vassar College and graduated in 1990.

E. R. Frank's Work as a Therapist

As a therapist, E. R. Frank works with adults and teenagers. She helps them when they have gone through tough or upsetting experiences. In an interview from 2004, she shared that she often uses books and talks about characters in stories to help her patients.

Her book America was removed from some school libraries in Martin County, Florida.
