Journey of the East Branch Union River

The East Branch Union River starts its journey in Maine. It begins flowing from a place called Rocky Pond. This pond is located in Maine Township 22 M D.

From Rocky Pond to Spectacle Pond

After leaving Rocky Pond, the river flows for about 5.3 miles (8.5 km). It travels southwest until it reaches Spectacle Pond. This pond is found in the town of Osborn.

Flowing Towards Graham Lake

From Spectacle Pond, the river continues its path. It flows for another 13.0 miles (20.9 km). During this part of its journey, the river changes direction many times. It goes northwest, then southwest, then west, and finally southwest again.

Joining Other Rivers

The East Branch Union River eventually reaches Graham Lake. Here, it meets the West Branch Union River. When these two branches come together, they form the larger Union River.

Forming a Natural Border

The lower part of the East Branch Union River also serves a special purpose. It creates a natural border between two towns. These towns are Mariaville and Waltham.
