Gilead Township is a special kind of local government area called a civil township. It is located in Branch County, which is part of the state of Michigan in the United States. In 2010, about 661 people lived in Gilead Township.

This township is mostly made up of farms. There are no big cities or towns here. Instead, you'll find two smaller communities:

  • East Gilead is a small community right near the border with the state of Indiana.
  • Gilead is another community found on the east side of Lake Gilead. It was started in 1831 by a person named Philander Chase. He hoped to build a college there, but that plan didn't happen. However, the community grew, and it even had its own post office from 1833 until 1906.
